Devi Drummers frame drumming workshop for Goddesses.
Gather in circle…
Align yourself with sacred rhythms and songs from around the world.
Summon the Goddess within, and let the beat of the drum move your untamed heart.
A frame drum is a drum that has a drumhead width greater than its depth, that is held by the hands or rested on the lap. The frame drum is one of the most ancient musical instruments, and was first seen played by women in cultures worldwide, during ceremony, sacred practices, and as a means of powerful connection.
We will gather in circle on Saturday the 25th of February, from 6pm-8pm, at the Yandina School of Arts studio, which is located under the main hall at Stevens Street.
You will learn different playing techniques, rhythms from around the world, a variety of songs and chants, and there might even be some dancing!
No musical knowledge, or previous drumming experience necessary. Just a beating heart…
Please bring a frame drum, if you have one, (Shaman/medicine drum is fine too), or borrow one of mine.
Frame drums can be purchased here:
(I recommend a 16inch Remo drum, to start with) https://www.optimumpercussion.com.au/…/frame-drums.html
